My sweet Aunt Bernie has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. One particular occasion stands out so clearly in my mind. The end of my fourth grade year at school was the beginning of an adventure of sorts I had never been on before. Aunt Bernie and I took a greyhound bus all the way from Clarksburg, WV to El Paso, Texas. It was a three day ride out and a three day ride back. Aunt Bernice bought me a new, beautiful white button up sweater to wear on the trip. How I loved the buttons-they were covered with the same white knitted material as the sweater was made of. We went to visit her daughter, Karen Sue, and her family. I got to spend time with my cousins Bonnie, Jerry, and Debbie. The fun we had! How she loved Texas. I don't think she wanted to leave...I know I didn't! As an adult looking back I realize the awesome gift she gave to me: not just the journey we took, but the lifelong love for my precious cousins!
