The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Charles Freeman can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

He was dear, gentle man of God.

The first time I heard Charlie sing, I was 12 years old. He sang several songs one Sunday morning at the Clarksburg Baptist Church where I attended. I was a youngster, but he made such an impression on my young soul that morning! Little did I know that the man who sang with such conviction and power would be a friend and mentor to me as I grew up. I was thrilled to learn that he worked at "the bank" where my aunt worked. And so began a friendship that I treasured for many years. When he retired, I was glad Charlie would have more time to do the things he loved. Now that I am retired, I know that he was never truly finished with his church and his music, until he no longer was able to be active. I will look forward to seeing my old friend in the hereafter, and maybe we can sing a song together. Until then, Charlie, you will be missed.
