Obituary for Sandra Jean Policano (Carder)

Sandra Jean Carder Policano, 81, of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday morning, December 9, 2018, in the United Hospital Center. She was born in Anmoore on June 29, 1937, a daughter of the late William Russell and Mabel Lee (Hill) Carder.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Larry S. Policano, Jr., whom she married in 1960.

Also surviving are two daughters, Letitia (Lettie) Ann Gordon and her husband Marc Alan, Frederick, MD; and Camille Rose Babbis and her husband Nicholas George, Philippi; three grandchildren, Olivia Dea Crabtree and her husband Shane Ryan; Gabrielle Shea Styles and her husband David Wayne and Chase Alexander Gordon; a great-grandson, Noah Kenneth Styles, all of Maryland. Her younger sister, Beverly Schummer of Ridgecrest, CA; her younger brother, Daniel Carder and his wife Sara of Bridgeport; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Carder of Shepherdstown, WV; and several nieces and nephews complete her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her older brother Jack Otis Carder and his wife Roma, and younger brother John David Carder, and a brother-in-law Bernie Schummer.

Sandra was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and was a member of Central Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church. While living in Virginia, she raised Arabian Horses. She was an accredited nutritionist through NIH, and was a celebrated chef/cook. She was a brilliant reader and quite the theological debater. From childhood, she continually reminded her family “This world is not our home.....” as she referred to Eternity on a regular basis!

Sandra has requested that she be cremated and no services be held.
