Obituary for Dorothy Jean Surock (Fenton)

Dorothy Jean Surock, 80, of Bridgeport passed away on Tuesday evening, September 18, 2018 in Clarksburg at River Oaks following a long battle with cancer. She was born on January 30, 1938 in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late Corbin Bradford Fenton and Mary Rose Literal Fenton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Surock who passed away in November 1986.
She is survived by five children, Kimberley Pisino of Grafton, Elizabeth “Peachy” Surock of Bridgeport, Jo-Ellen “Jodi” Arthur and her husband John, II of Grafton, Robert Edward Surock, II and his wife Gina of Clarksburg and Eric Bradford Surock and his wife Teresa of Mount Clare; six grandchildren, Sam Pisino, Keith Pisino and his wife Kristy, Travis Pisino and his fiancée Jennifer, Josh Hedrick and his wife River, Robert Cody Arthur and his wife Shelbie and Heather Arthur and her companion, Jarod Ball; two great grandchildren, Michael Pisino and Lexi Knotts; one brother, Corbin Fenton and his wife Gerry of Barboursville and one sister, Flora Ciuffreda and her husband Al of Fredricksburg, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Everett Fenton and his wife Clarice Fenton.
She was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and worked at Walmart for 22 years until her retirement. She loved to travel, especially all over Europe. She enjoyed quilting and she was a member of the Brushy Fork Homemakers Association. She was a talented woman who loved to paint; she also worked crossword puzzles and word find puzzles as well as playing cards. She was also a collector and loved her Nutcracker collections.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at River Oaks for their care and compassion shown for Dorothy.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 2-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 am with Reverend Thomas P. Horne presiding. Interment will be in Bridgeport Cemetery.
