In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Junior Ray Channell. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and preceding him in death were three brothers who died as infants, Clarence, Leonard, and Gerald Channell. Longevity was a family trait as the rest of his deceased siblings all lived into their 80’s and 90’s, Lonnie, Worthy, Earl, and Kenneth Channell; and a sister Local Channell Tracy.
Alba was a veteran of World War II and was the recipient of five Bronze Stars.
