Obituary for Mary Vincent Lodge (Golden)

Mary Golden Vincent Lodge, 81, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully at her residence Friday morning, May 25, 2018. She was born in Clarksburg on July 12, 1936, a daughter of the late William E. and Clara (Morris) Golden.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ellis J. Vincent, Sr.; Robert Lodge; and Richard Arbutina.

She is survived by three children, Deborah J. Hrubik and her husband John, Bridgeport; Mary Beth Hamilton of Ocean View, DE; and Ellis J. “Jay” Vincent, Jr. and his wife Lisa, Bridgeport; a very special nephew, Douglas Golden and his wife Carol of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Nancy L. Ayers, Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Lodge; a daughter, Brenda K. Perkins; a son-in-law, James W. Hamilton; her brothers, William, Bob, Jim, Edward, and John Golden; and a sister, Kathleen Weekley.

Mary was a graduate of Bridgeport High School where she was a majorette. She retired from Krogers in Raleigh, NC, and had also worked at Krogers in Bridgeport. She was a past member of North Raleigh United Methodist Church where she was a Stephens Ministery Counselor. She was a current member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church. She was also a former member of Rachel Chapter # 47, Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed painting, gardening, and feeding anyone who stopped by her house.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 12 noon – 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, where services will be held at 1 p.m. with Dr. Ken Ramsey presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
