Obituary for Donald Browning
Donald Duane Browning, 73, of Bridgeport, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 26, 2017. He was born January 14, 1944, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Arden and Bessie Browning.
He adored his family and always wanted to care for them. He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife, Miriam Ventura Browning, whom he married June 27, 1963. He is also the beloved father of three children, Donald Duane Browning and his wife, Kendra, of Edinburg, VA, Jeffrey Browning, DDS, of Bridgeport, and Carisa Mayers and her husband, Matthew, of Bridgeport. He was the loving Pappy to his grandchildren, Tyler Browning; Isaiah and Victor Browning; Madeline and Collin Mayers; Jenny Miller, Megan Hill, and Natalie Fox.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Aaron Lane Browning, and one sister, Patricia Browning Sands.
Donald graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1961, and from Salem College in 1971. His degree was in accounting. He received his accounting certification in 1992.
In 1995, he began a successful courier service, which he operated until retiring in 2009. He was currently working in his son's dental practice. He was a man of integrity and was well respected by his clients and friends.
Donald was a charter member of Centerbranch Assembly of God Church, where he served on the board and as an elder for many years. For several years, he was a financial supporter and board member for Heritage Christian School. He also participated as a member of the Council of 100 for Christian Broadcasting Network.
Donald loved children and supported ministries that fed the hungry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Donald's memory to Life Outreach International, P.O. Box 982000, Fort Worth, TX, 76182-9986.
Friends and family will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2 to 8pm on Wednesday. Mr. Browning will lie in state at Centerbranch Assembly of God, 2551 Buckhannon Pike, Mt. Clare, from 10 to 11am on Thursday, November 30, 2017, where services will be held at 11am with Rev. Sheldon Moore presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
