Obituary for Ruth Annetta Scarberry (McCartney)

Ruth Ann (McCartney) Scarberry, aged 91, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2017 at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV. She was born to the late Cecil and Opal McCartney on August 12, 1926.
Ruth graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1945. She then attended Alderson Broaddus University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies in 1949. She was a lifelong member of the Pentecostal Church of God and dedicated her life to serving others. In addition, she was an ordained minister for over 60 years.
She was predeceased by her brother, Warren McCartney of Bridgeport, WV.
She is survived by her daughters Mary (Scarberry) Craft and Patricia Scarberry of Rupert, WV; a sister, Linda Harris of Bridgeport, WV; two brothers, Bill McCartney and wife Margaret of Bridegeport, WV and Charles McCartney of Dayton, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Tasha, Joshua, Brittany, Whitney, and Erica; and seven great-grandchildren, Tiah, Myka, Halle, Joshua, Alex, Kate, and Paisley. Also, she had many beloved nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Bailey Memorial United Methodist Church, 63 Bailey Church Road, Rosemont, WV with Reverenc Thomas P. Horne presiding.
