Obituary for
Wayne Michael Recktenwald
Wayne Michael Recktenwald, 64, of Bridgeport, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on May 31, 1953 in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of Arlene Recktenwald Holt and the late Roy Eugene Recktenwald.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Beverly Campbell Recktenwald, whom he married on November 20, 1982.
He is also survived by his son, Andrew Michael Recktenwald of Dallas, TX and daughter, Morgan Leigh Recktenwald of Bridgeport; a brother, Gary Recktenwald and his wife Wendy; a brother-in-law, Mike Martin and his wife Debbi; stepfather Keith Holt, and a stepsister, Mary Jane Hall and her husband Wayne; three nieces, Lindsay Recktenwald, Kylie Recktenwald, and Elizabeth Hall; two nephews, Brian Martin and Keith Hall. Wayne is also survived by many other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his sister Karen Recktenwald Martin.
Wayne was a graduate of East Fairmont High School and then received his Bachelor of Science from Fairmont State University, where he was in the TBI Fraternity. He then received his Master’s Degree from West Virginia University. He and his family lived in Atlanta, GA and Lexington, KY as well as other locations over the years. He has been Benefits and Compensation manager at United Hospital Center since 1997. Wayne also served on the CASA of Harrison County board for several years.
Wayne was a member of the Lifeway Bible Fellowship Church. He enjoyed Irish Road Bowling and photography. He was a great fan of music and movies as well as a sports enthusiast who enjoyed following the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, which was the most important thing to him.
The family would like to thank Pastor Tom Horne and his wife Debbie, Pastor Chuck Madaus, Pastor Del Perris, the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit staff at Ruby Memorial Hospital, People’s Hospice, and all those who faithfully kept Wayne and his family in their prayers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made online to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, where a memorial service will be held at 12:00 noon with Pastor Thomas P. Horne and Pastor Del Parris presiding.
