Obituary for Mary L. Belcastro (Mazza)

MANSFIELD, OH: Mary L. Belcastro went to be with the Lord Friday evening April 28, 2017 from Country Meadow Care Center, Bellville, OH. She was 91.

Born September 10, 1925 in Clarksburg, WV, to Vincenzo James and Caterina (Morrow) Mazza, she was graduated from Roosevelt-Wilson High School in 1944.

Mary had worked as an assembler with Therm-O-Disc in Mansfield, retiring in 1989.

She enjoyed gardening, and craft projects (especially crocheting), and her pasta, meatballs, and lasagna dishes qualified her as an exceptional Italian cook. Mary’s kitchen was a tool for her heart, she loved on her family and friends with her cooking, her presence, and their delight in her lost art of yodeling.

She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mansfield and Immaculate Conception Parish in Clarksburg, WV.

She is survived by her children Don (Ellen) Belcastro of Conway, NH, Frank (Kim) Belcastro of Nazareth, PA, and Debra Belcastro-Such of Mansfield, OH; grandchildren Brett (Lauren) Belcastro of Boston, MA, Ryan (Kamee) Belcastro of Denver, CO, Emma (Edward) Davy of Lock Haven, PA, and Adam (Kristina) Belcastro of Richmond, VA; great grandchildren Kolbe Belcastro and one on the way; sisters Rose Vallelonga of Clarksburg, WV and Clara “Virdie” (Pat) Wash of Flint, MI.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank A. Belcastro on January 4, 1994; a granddaughter Hannah Belcastro; and siblings Salvatore “Sam” Mazza, Saverio “Zolly” Mazza, John Mazza, Paul Mazza, Frank Mazza, and infant brothers Salvatore and Anthony Mazza.

Friends may call at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 8:30 to 10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Clarksburg, WV 26301. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
