Obituary for Louella Mae Corder

Louella Mae Corder, formerly Allen, aged 71 of Bristol, WV passed away on Sunday January 8, 2017 in her home where she had been brought to rest following a lengthy illness surrounded by her husband and daughter. She was born on October 30, 1945 in the community of Marshville (Grass Run) West Virginia.

She is survived by her husband Gerald W. Corder, whom she was married to for fifty-one years; her daughter Teresa Corder-Erickson and cherished son-in-law Eric Erickson; beloved grandchildren Ellianna Ava Erickson and Evan Gabriel James Erickson all of Elyria, OH; Niece Shirlene Parker, Nephew Delbert Davis and numerous special nieces, nephews and cousins.

Of special mention are her Brother-in-Law Randall N. Corder who she had a special connection with as she would a son and Charles A. Allen whom grew up beside her as a brother; her best friend and confidant Charlotte Greynolds who has stood by her side through her life's journey; Aunt Sara Frances Corder; and cherished friend and neighbor Lucille Devericks who passed before her.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Laura Ann Allen (Allen) and her father Delbert Dale "Spin" Allen; her older sister: Betty Jo Davis and her Husband/ Brother-in-Law Shirley Eugene Davis; and four siblings who died during infancy: Martha Allen, Mary Allen, Delbert Dale Allen and Linda Allen; Paternal grandparents Mary Catherine Allen and Thomas B. Allen; her maternal grandparents William Allen and Elizabeth Betty Conrad Allen.

Louella was a graduate of Bristol High School Class of 1963. She worked as a waitress at the Town House Restaurant and Western Electric in her younger days. She was a long-time Avon Representative which gave her an opportunity to visit with others in her community. She provided in-home care for numerous beloved family members over the years and was a homemaker from the time that she started a family. She was a member of the Grass Run Church and was a long time active member of the Meadow Valley Farm Women's Club CEOS of Harrison County.

Louella was most known and will be forever remembered for her loving, giving, forgiving, and compassionate nature. She displayed an overwhelming acceptance of others and had a transcending love for all that she knew. She had an ability to see beauty in all people. She brought a smile to all she met with her beautiful nature and love of God. Her mission in life was to reach out to others in need. A special memory will be remembrance for her attire and love of color.

She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, canning, cooking for her family and friends, collecting, reading, caring for animals, sewing, listening to bluegrass and gospel music, visiting with loved ones, and spending time with her two grandchildren who were her greatest joys in life. She adored her husband above all.

Friends will be received at: Burnside Funeral Home 607 S. Virginia Ave. Bridgeport, on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Danny Fleming presiding. Interment will be in Big Isaac Cemetery.
