Obituary for Jack Carder

Jack Carder, 83, of Beech Hollow Road, Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday evening, October 18, 2016. He was born in Anmoore on July 6, 1933, a son of the late William Russell Carder and Mabel Lee Hill.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Roma Lucian Carder, whom he married on March 30, 1953.
Also surviving are four children, Kimberly Toth of Bridgeport; Mark Carder and his wife Pamela of Bridgeport; Jackie Cross of Morgantown; and Lori Douglass and her husband Michael of Lexington, KY; six grandchildren, Justin D. Carder, Cole J. Carder and his wife Jeanna, Renee Sprouse and her husband Eddie, Holden D. Cross and his wife Abby, Kaitlynn Douglass Woodward and her husband Tony, and Michaela Douglass; and ten great-grandchildren, Summer Carder, Gabriel Carder, Cameron Carder, Justin (Little Jus) Carder, Luciana Bly Carder, Adaleia Wolfe Cross, Elliana Roma Cross, Judah Holden Cross, Cash Sprouse, and Tori Sprouse; four brothers and sisters, Beverly Schummer and her husband Bernie of Ridgecrest, CA, Sandra Jean Policano and her husband Larry of Bridgeport, David Carder and his wife Dorothy of Berkley Springs, WV and Danny Carder and his wife Sara of Bridgeport.
In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by one infant brother, William Carder.
Jack was a Veteran of the United States Army and he owned and operated Rojac, Inc. Heating and Cooling from 1964 to 1993, from there he still continued in the HVAC business under OC Consultants until 2015. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed being in the outdoors. His greatest love was for his family, where he was a devoted husband to his wife and father to his children. Jack spent his later years taking care of his wife, Roma, who had a three year battle with cancer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to Peoples Hospice, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday, October 21, 2016 from 2 – 8 p.m., where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016, with Dr. C. Michael Hopkins presiding. Entombment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the Harrison County Honor Guard.
