Obituary for Wanda Y. Jones (Crayton)

Wanda Y. Crayton Jones, 90, of Saltwell Road, Bridgeport, passed away Friday morning, September 2, 2016. She was born January 22, 1926, in Gypsy, a daughter of the late Emmett and Carrie (Venham) Crayton.
On March 23, 1946, she married Walter R Jones, who preceded her in death on May 1, 2013.
She is survived by her son, Terry M. Jones and his wife Sharon, Bridgeport; a daughter, Melody A. Deems, St. Clairsville, OH; grandchildren, Matthew Jones and his wife Kathy, Bridgeport; Rebekah Jones Matuga and her husband Jim, Morgantown, Sarah Jones, Lake Orion, MI; Jeremy Deems and his wife Natasha, Belmont, OH; Britteny Deems, St. Clairsville, OH; great-grandchildren, Austin Jones, Lake Orion MI; Savannah Jones, Bridgeport; Abby Jones, Bridgeport; and Aiden Deems, Belmont, OH.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Walter R. Jones, Jr., and her son-in-law, James Deems; and two brothers, Whitey (Jr.) Crayton and Ray Crayton.
Wanda had a love of music, and especially loved listening to Melody’s and Terry’s music. She also loved her dog, Tootsie. She loved to read, especially westerns and Amish books. She loved spending time with her family, and will be remembered for her pleasant personality and pretty smile. She was a member of Simpson Creek Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to Pifer Mt. Cemetery, c/o Louise Turner, 2787 Talbott Road, Belington, WV 26250.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 4-8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Tuesday. Services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dr. C. Michael Hopkins presiding. Interment will follow in Pifer Mountain Cemetery, Valley Furnace, WV.
