The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Thomas James "TJ" Werdebaugh can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Thomas James "TJ" Werdebaugh

Thomas James (TJ) Werdebaugh, 20, of Bridgeport, died on August 29th, 2016. He was born July 12th, 1996 in Frederick, MD, the son of Scott Werdebaugh and Lisa (Landis) Hutson. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 2014 where he was a member of the D.E.C.A. Club.
TJ had an infectious laugh and smile that brought joy to many. He made friends easily and was always there to lift a friend’s spirits when they were feeling down.
TJ is survived by his mother and stepfather, Lisa & Paul Hutson of Clarksburg; his father and stepmother, Scott & Sharon Werdebaugh of Bridgeport; two brothers, Dillon Hutson and Domonick Werdebaugh; three stepsiblings, Ben Hutson, Mariah Boyce and Wesley Boyce. His maternal grandparents, Frank and Shelia (deceased) Landis; and paternal grandparents, Darrell & Vi (deceased) Werdebaugh and Wendy & Dave Berry; and paternal great grandmother Alice Moats. TJ was also very loved by several other step-grandparents. He was preceded in death by other great-grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the D.E.C.A. Club at Bridgeport High School. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and can also be mailed to D.E.C.A. Club, c/o Trina Runner, Bridgeport High School, 515 Johnson Avenue, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
Friends and family will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday, September 2, 2016, from 3pm to 7pm, where a Celebration of TJ’s Life will be held at 7 p.m. with Pastor Bill Natalzia presiding.
