Obituary for Minter Lee Chapman

Minter Lee Chapman, 78, of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 in Bridgeport. He was born in Morgantown on September 19, 1937, a son of the late Mintter Hill Chapman and Margaret Ann (Sal) Shahan.
He married Judith Rae Dennison on August 14, 1957, in Oakland, MD, who preceded him in death. .
He is survived by three daughters, Lisa R. Michael, Bridgeport; Cathy A. Born, Washington, PA; and Lori S. Voltin, Little River, SC; and his grandchildren, Samantha R. Hale, Bridgeport; J. Addison Michael, Cleveland, OH; Alexia K. DePiano, Bridgeport; Kimberly N Dorus, Cranberry, PA; Sean M. Blackwell, Dormont, PA; Christopher L. Blackwell, Baldwin, PA; Joshua R. Voltin, Charleston, SC; Trey J. Voltin, Bryn Mawr, PA; and Sarah E. Voltin, Columbia, SC.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian L. Chapman.
He graduated from West Virginia University where he received his Doctorate in Dentistry and held the position as class president. He worked for 51 years, first starting out at the Prunty Building in Clarksburg, and then later moved his practice to Bridgeport until he retired in 2015. He was an associate professor at WVU School of Dentistry for 28 years, and he was an active member of the American Dental Society. He was a veteran of the US Marines, serving from 1955 – 1959. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling and fishing, with Las Vegas being one of his favorite hot spots. He was an avid cook and enjoyed cooking holiday meals for his family.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016, where a celebration of Minter’s life will be held at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dr. C. Michael Hopkins presiding. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
