Obituary for Donald Jackson "Jack" Turner

Donald Jackson Turner, 88, of Elkins and formerly of Harrison and Tyler Counties, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Colonial Place Assisted Living. Mr. Turner was born January 25, 1928 in Clarksburg a son of the late Pearl Sigsby and Mary Ethel (Webster) Turner. He was the last surviving member of his family.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Delores Ann Russ Turner whom he married on December 10, 1949.

He is also survived by his daughter, Patricia Ann McCloud and her husband Jim of Elkins; three sons, Donald Carey Turner and his wife Cheryl of Clarksburg, Ronald Criss Turner and his wife Robin of Mt. Holly Springs, PA, and Stephen Craig Turner and his wife SunAe of Fayetteville, NC; granddaughters, Christie Brooke Moore of Elkins, Jennifer Renee McNeely and her husband Brett of Thousand Oaks, CA, Kathryn Aaren Turner of Mt. Holly Springs, PA and her boyfriend Kevin Eakin of Kansas City, KA; Grandsons, Jeremy L. Turner of Clarksburg, Joshua L. Turner of Clarksburg and Adam Jackson Turner of Mount Holly Springs, PA and his companion Britteny Stowe of NJ; great grandson, Nehemiah Moore of Elkins and one great granddaughter Neriah Moore also of Elkins.

Mr. Turner was preceded in death by one sister, Pearl Gaynell Hart and one brother, James Frederick Turner.

He was a graduate of Roosevelt Wilson High School and was a Veteran of the United States Army having served from 1945-1948 and again from 1949-1952. Following his service he was employed by Hartland Planing Mill as a shipping clerk for 35 years until his retirement on April 1, 1977.

Mr. Turner was a member of Smith Chapel Methodist Church and enjoyed farming as well as hunting.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Hospice, 1002 S. Crim Avenue, Belington, WV 26250 or to the Clarksburg Mission, 312 N. 4th Street Clarksburg, WV 26301.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 16, 2016 at 11:00 am with Reverend Danny Franke presiding. Entombment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell.
