Obituary for Diane Alexander (Michael)

Diane Michael Alexander, 69, of Bridgeport and formerly of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at her home in Bridgeport. She was born March 29, 1947 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Omar Amos Michael and Emma Louise Harr Michael.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Alexander who passed away in 2000.
She is survived by her special friend Gene Dodd of Bridgeport; her nieces and nephews, Kirk Michael of Greenville, SC, Jennifer Michael Aquila and her husband Scott of Allentown, PA, Elizabeth Michael of Fairmont and Travis Lemasters and Jamie Lemasters of Wake Forest, NC; great nieces and nephews, Lauren, Lindsay, Ryan, Alex, and Reagan; and her sister-in-law Sandra Michael of Fairmont
She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Kelly Michael and one sister, Beverly Lemasters.
Diane was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and then received her BA in education from Fairmont State University and then her MA in guidance counseling from West Virginia University. She was employed by the Harrison County Board of Education as an English Teacher and then as a guidance counselor until her retirement.
She enjoyed traveling, where she had been to Poland, Hawaii, and Las Vegas. Following her retirement she would spend her time in Florida. She was also an avid WVU football and basketball fan.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:30 am. Graveside services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Clarksburg on Saturday at 12:00 noon.
