Obituary for R.W. "Bob" Johnson

R. W. “Bob” Johnson, 79, of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday evening, March 30, 2016, at his residence. He was born in Jane Lew on September 3, 1936, a son of the late Blair Johnson and Wanda Coss and his step-mother Evelyn Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty JoAnn (Fulks) Johnson, on April 26, 2000.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and T. C. Johnson, Bridgeport; two daughters and son-in-law, Karlen Stolzenfels, Bridgeport, Erica and Danny Vaughan, Lewisburg, WV; eight grandchildren, Chris Skoloski, Heather Clifton and her husband Jeremy, Hanna Stolzenfels, Michael Johnson, Jessie Johnson, Sammie Johnson, Garrett Vaughan and Ryan Vaughan; three sisters, Tish Stroebel and her husband Bob of Michigan, Mary Sue Smith and her husband Joe of VA and Nancy McConaghy of NY; sister-in-law Janith Hinzman of Bridgeport and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by a special uncle that helped raise him, Leonard Rex Johnson.

Bob was employed by Nationwide Insurance Company for 38 years where he served in management and agency work. He was a member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church and Good Hope Jackson Lodge #35 AF&AM as a 50 year member. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 10 a.m. – 12 Noon on Saturday, April 2, 2016, where services will be held at 12 Noon with Reverend Dr. Ken Ramsey presiding. Interment will follow in the Bridgeport Cemetery.
