Obituary for Charles E Post

Reverend Charles E. Post, Sr., 89, of Anmoore, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, in the United Hospital Center. He was born in Philippi on April 12, 1926, the only child of the late Albert Rosco Post and Laura Dell (Wilmoth) Post.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Reverend Patty Post, whom he married November 28, 1946.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rebecca J. Lafferty, Clarksburg, and Patti Jo Heaster, Bridgeport; five grandchildren, Ted Lafferty, Rebecca Lafferty, Jason Heaster, Elizabeth Weishart, and Charles Marshall Post; 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles Edward Post, Jr.; a granddaughter, Laurie Elizabeth; and his son-in-law, Eugene T. Lafferty.
Charles was a graduate of Philippi High School and then served in the US Navy during World War II, serving in all three major theatres. He then worked in the coal mines for several years. He was the manager of Red Head for 23 years, then was a security guard at United Hospital Center with over 17 years of service.
He was a pastor from 1977-78, and was the Director in WV for World REAP for Christ. He has been the chairman and trustee of Holy Trinity Chapel since 1955.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday from 1 -8 p.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2015, with Reverend Bedford Wilfong presiding. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Philippi.
