The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Catherine Fiora can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence From: Sherry Sarvis
Condolence: To Katie's Family:
My Mom, Joan Hinerman Sarvis was Katie's roommate at WVU. After my Mom passed away suddenly in 2008, I contacted Katie to tell her. She and I became "pen pals". She was so kind, sweet, inspirational and determined!! She was always thinking of others and had a positive attitude! She became a Mother figure to me, as well as my friend. I called her phone back in September and heard the recording, "this number has been disconnected". My heart sank. I feared she was in hospice or had passed. I googled her and found this obituary. There is no doubt in my mind that Katie is walking on the streets of gold! Her faith was paramount in her life. I'm sorry I didn't get to say good-bye to her, but I'll have a little talk with her soon and I know she'll hear me! Meanwhile, she and Mom are probably reminiscing about the good times at WVU. God bless her kind soul. I will miss her. What a gem she was! My deepest condolences to all of you.

Condolence From: Ron Miara
Condolence: Dear "favorite aunt in Bethesda" Aunt Kate, congratulations on a life well-lived! You told me many times that you were not afraid of, and were prepared for death at any time, which is the way to heaven. I never met a more Christian, a more Catholic person than you. And, you didn't just preach it, you lived the life and set the example, including being most hospitable and generous, especially with family. If I learned and practiced half of the things you tried to teach me, I'd be a far better person. You were a family leader, everyone knew if they needed any information on any family member, you could call Katie. Say hello to my Mom and Dad for me, for you are surely in heaven, and please put in a good word with the big guy for me, for I am not sure it will be easy for me to get in. Rest in peace. I will miss you.

Condolence From: Debbie Hauser
Condolence: Dear Aunt Katie,
You will be so missed by so many. We will all miss your quick wit, your sharp intelligence, your kindness and your dignity. Even with all the pain that you had at the end, you maintained your composure and dignity.
I hope you're having a good time up in heaven. Goodness knows, there are far too many other Fiora's up there. But at last you have peace and are in the embrace of God.

Love you,
Debbie
