Obituary for Clarence D. Eagle

Clarence D. Eagle, 86, of East View, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012, in the United Hospital Center. He was born in Bridgeport on November 3, 1926, a son of the late Herbert and Gertrude (Faris) Eagle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy “Dot” Oldaker Eagle, on April 16, 2002. He is survived by two sons, Gerald “Jerry” Eagle, Fairmont; and Clarence R. Eagle and his wife Debbie, Clarksburg; two daughters, Betty Jean Tumlin, Fairmont, and Shirley Ann Pernell and her husband Bill, Clarksburg; 11 grandchildren, Rena Captain, Sasha Eveland, Kiya Corley and her husband David, Michael Eagle and his wife Wendi, Tiffany Braden and her husband Michael, Eric Carpenter, Kristen Pernell and her husband Chris, Jennifer Lambert and her husband Alfred, Bryan Eagle and his wife Lisa, Nicole Eagle, and Melissa Simpson; 18 great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild. One sister, Pauline Gallup, Kalamazoo, MI; numerous nieces and nephews; and his precious pup and best friend Bambi complete his family. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lynn Eagle; seven brothers, Houston, Paul, Ralph, Andy, Russell, George and Herbert Eagle; and four sisters, Ethel Shelton, Lorraine Wadsworth, Christine Lafferty, and Irene Pace. Clarence served in the US Army in 1945 – 1946, stationed in the Philippines and Germany. He retired in 1987 from the shipping department of Anchor Hocking after 30 years of service. He then worked for Mountain State Auto Auction for nine years. He had attended East View United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Harrison County Senior Citizens and was a member of American Legion Post 200 in Charleston. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 12 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012, with Reverend Etheldean Yanero and Reverend Alan Granofsky presiding.
